Everything you need to know about the Anglesey Women’s Sea Kayaking Festival.


What are the festival dates?

The festival runs Friday 12th – Monday 15th June 2026.
Main paddling days are Saturday and Sunday. Social activities, meals, yoga and workshops run throughout the weekend.


Who is the festival for?

Women aged 18+, from complete beginners to experienced sea kayakers.
You don’t need prior experience — our female coaching team supports all levels.


Do I need my own kayak or equipment?

No — we offer a full weekend rental package including a Sea Kayaking UK kayak, Celtic paddle, PFD, spraydeck and basic safety kit.
You can also bring your own equipment if preferred.


Is everything led by women?

Yes.
All coaching, workshops and leadership roles are delivered by an all-female coaching team with strong local knowledge and deep experience. Kayak and Paddle sizing workshop will be led by Nigel Dennis. Craig Leslie from sea kayaking UK adventures has been a key organiser and will be helping to make sure the weekend runs smoothly.

What’s not included?

  • Accommodation (sold as a 3-night package on our website)
  • Kit hire (if needed)
  • Transport to and from the event
  • Personal insurance

How does accommodation work?

We have secured all festival accommodation at Anglesey Outdoors.
These are sold through our website as 3-night packages (Fri–Mon):

  • Dorm rooms
  • Yurts & glamping pods
  • Cabins
  • Camping & van spaces

Extra nights can be booked directly with Anglesey Outdoors if available.


Can I share accommodation with friends?

Yes.
Please add a note at checkout with the name(s) of the people you’d like to share with.
If you’re coming alone, we will match you with other participants respectfully.


What is the cancellation/refund policy?

Refunds are available 90+ days before the festival, minus a small admin fee.
Inside 90 days, bookings are non-refundable, but you may transfer your place to another participant through the admin team.


Can I transfer my place to someone else?

Yes — transfers are allowed as long as:

  1. You notify us,
  2. The new participant completes the medical/emergency information, and
  3. The admin team approves suitability for the paddling groups.

Can the schedule change?

Yes — sea kayaking is weather and tide dependent.
We may adjust venues, timings, workshop topics or the coach team to ensure safety and enjoyment.
This is normal and does not qualify for refunds.


Do I need insurance?

We strongly recommend insurance that covers:

  • Cancellation
  • Injury or illness
  • Personal property
  • Travel disruption
  • Equipment loss/damage (if hiring)

What should I bring?

A full kit list will be emailed, but generally:

  • Usual paddling kit (or hire from us)
  • Warm layers & dry clothes
  • Swimwear for sea dips
  • Yoga/active wear
  • Waterproofs
  • Reusable bottle & mug
  • Snacks
  • Sunscreen
  • Head torch
  • Relevant camping equipment (depending on accommodation choice)
  • Towels
  • Instruments if you want to share your talents

How are groups decided?

Groups are assigned based on experience, confidence level, the conditions, and coach availability.

We aim to keep groups consistent across the weekend.

You will be able to choose workshops in advance but morning briefings will confirm the daily program.


What time is check-in and departure?

  • Arrival & registration: from 12:00 Friday
  • Departure: by 10:30 Monday

Can non-participants attend?

Family or partners are welcome to stay off-site, but all festival meals, coaching and workshops are participants only.


Is the festival inclusive?

Yes.
We welcome women of all backgrounds, ages (18–75+), abilities, body types and experiences.
