Festival Schedule Overview
This outline gives you a clear picture of how the Anglesey Women’s Sea Kayaking Festival flows across the weekend. We balance time on the water with workshops, community activities, yoga, meals, and evening sessions so you can learn, relax, and connect at a pace that feels good.
Each day is designed to offer something for everyone — from confidence-building coaching to more adventurous journeys, plus opportunities to explore new skills, try SKUK boats and Celtic paddles, and enjoy the social side of the festival.
About Changes to the Schedule
Because we paddle in dynamic coastal environments, some details of the schedule may change based on weather, tides, sea conditions, and group needs. Our coaching team monitors the forecast closely and selects the most suitable venues each day.
Any adjustments are made to ensure:
Safety, enjoyment and appropriate challenge for each group.
We’ll keep everyone informed during daily briefings, and you’ll always know where you’re going and what to expect.

Friday Workshops – Detailed Descriptions
Tidal Planning & Local Awareness
A friendly, practical introduction to how tides, wind and coastline shape our paddling decisions.
This session includes a short classroom-style lesson, followed by a coastal walk to look at the features in real life — eddies, overfalls, pinch points, safe landings and more.
It’s light, social and a great way to ease into the weekend while learning the fundamentals that make Anglesey such a unique paddling environment.
SKUK Boat & Celtic Paddle Demo (Led by Nigel Dennis)
A relaxed demo session with Nigel Dennis, designer of SKUK kayaks and founder of Sea Kayaking UK.
Women are still too often mis-sold paddles that are the wrong size or design for their body and paddling style — this workshop offers friendly, no-pressure advice and the chance to try boats and paddles properly.
It’s not a sales pitch; it’s about empowerment, understanding fit, and feeling confident with the right equipment.
Coastal Foraging Walk
A gentle guided stroll exploring edible plants, seaweeds and wildlife along Anglesey’s coastline. Ideal for nature lovers and those wanting a slower, grounding start to the weekend.
Rolling & Rescue Confidence Session
A supportive session to experience rolling foundations, assisted/self rescues and staying calm in the water. Perfect for beginners to intermediate paddlers wanting to build confidence and water comfort before the main paddling days.
Boat Care & Simple Repairs
Learn simple outfitting, quick fixes, skeg tweaks, hatch care and common repair scenarios. A great practical workshop for any paddler who wants to feel more self-sufficient.
Below is a refined list of the kinds of coaching sessions that may run each day.Final groupings will depend on conditions, coach availability and participant levels
