Course Full

Develop your kayaking skills on Anglesey's famous tidal waters.

The Intermediate Tidal Waters Course will be led by seasoned instructor, Stuart Leslie. with over 15 years of coaching experience in the waters around Anglesey and a plethora of expeditions under his belt, you are in exceptional hands. This course is meticulously crafted to enhance your skill set in tidal waters, providing personalised coaching to help you achieve your goals and formulate a roadmap for continued progress.

On the intermediate course Stuart will start by discussing your goals.  He will help you choose suitable conditions to facilitate fun, learning and progression. Where conditions allow, we will try to build up to more advanced conditions later in the course so that you can test and consolidate your learning progressively.

Generally on an intermediate course the learners will be exposed to conditions that stretch their comfort zone and given individualised tasks to promote skill acquisition and development.  If you are unsure about your proficiency level check out Stuart's article 'What Level of Sea Kayaker am I?'.

The course kicks off at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday mornings at the Sea Kayaking UK/Celtic Paddles Factory, in Holyhead, Anglesey.  Most days run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., though schedules may flex based on group needs or weather conditions.

Equipment

There will be time to get equipped on day one of the course. Please see the the equipment page for more information about what we have available.

Course Structure:

On day one the coach will spend some time getting to know the group and develop an understanding of your goals and experience. You will then plan for the day in the classroom where there is access to tea and coffee.  Then before heading off to hit the waves you will be issued with any equipment you require and load up the trailer or cars before departure. Around 1300 there will be a stop for lunch which you will need to bring with you. By 1700 you should be back at base where you can hang up kit to dry if necessary.

Each day of the course there after will follow a similar pattern, unless group needs or conditions dictate otherwise. This is a practical course, and the vast majority of the time will be on the water, however time in the classroom in the morning planning your day also doubles as a platform for theoretical learning to complement on-water practices and reflect on the previous day's lessons.
